Technical Guidelines for replacing oil in belt-driven compressors
Dear Customer,
We have received several technical inquiries regarding the oil used in our AC compressor replacements, specifically for belt-driven compressors. Please note that all +Line compressors come pre-filled with the correct oil. However, the total amount of oil required may vary depending on the specific application.
To ensure you are using the correct type and amount of oil, we recommend the following procedure:
- Oil Draining: Carefully drain the oil from the compressor. This step is important to ensure that any residual oil from the production process is removed.
- System Refill: Use an A/C service machine to refill the system with the correct type and quantity of oil. This ensures the oil is evenly distributed throughout the system.
Additional Technical Considerations:
- Oil Compatibility: Ensure that the oil you use is compatible with the refrigerant in your system (e.g., PAG oil for R134a systems). Using the wrong oil can lead to poor lubrication, increased wear, and potentially compressor failure.
- System Flushing: If the system has been exposed to contaminants or if a compressor failure has occurred, it is crucial to flush the system thoroughly before adding new oil and refrigerant.
- Oil Viscosity: Check that the viscosity of the oil meets the compressor’s specifications. Proper viscosity is vital to maintain effective lubrication and prevent compressor damage.
This procedure applies specifically to belt-driven compressors. By following these steps, you can ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your AC system.
